1.A network of five sampling stations from Dugda to Sindri on Damodar river was established.

2.Samples from these stations and industrial effluents discharged between these stations were sampled and analysed over a period of 5 months as per standard methods
1. The Damodar river all along the study area was visually polluted and falls under category 'C' Coal washeries and thermal power plants were identified as two major sources of Damodar river pollution

2. TSS, oil and grease and bacteriological contamination are major pollutants need to be targeted for pollution abatement
This study highlights the concern for manageemnt of uncontrolled and continuous discharge of effluents into Damodar river
