National Level Artists’ Camp on mining and nature balance

A four-day National Level Artists’ Camp based on the theme ‘Mining and Nature Balance’, organised by Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) along with Lalit Kala Akademi and Department of Odia language, literature and culture, was inaugurated at Panthanivas here Tuesday.

 

The event was jointly inaugurated by working President of Lalit Kala Akademi Bijay Kumar Nayak, eminent artist Jagdish Chandra Kanunugo and Laxmidhar Behera, GM,Civil, OMC.

 

Twenty artists from across the country, including Ashutosh Patra and Dinabandhu Sahoo from the state, have participated in the camp. During the four-day event, an art exhibition will be organised in which the winner artist will receive Rs 50,000 prize money on the valedictory.

 

Interacting with Orissa POST, secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi Manas Ranjan Jena said, “This joint initiative by the Akademi, OMC and Department of Odia language, literature and culture to showcase the beauty of mining areas by brushstrokes of an artist is commendable. I am confident that all the participants from outside the state will in awe by the beauty of Odisha.”

 

Vimi Indra, an artist from New Delhi who is also taking part in the camp, was excited with the theme and hoped that in the coming four days she along with the other artists will be painting some real good paintings to do justice to the picturesque image of Odisha.
