Prof. S. R. Samadder, Associate Professor, Dept. of ESE, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, subject teacher of the course ‘Drinking Water Supply and Treatment’ for B. Tech. Environmental Engineering, organized an online industrial lecture at the Department of ESE, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on 21st September, 2022 on the topic of ‘Process of Ion Exchange for Industrial Application’. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Nabakumar Pal from Ion Exchange, India. The two-hour session was intended to give a glimpse of the water treatment process workflow and various resins used for water treatment by Ion Exchange India. Mr. Pal delved deep into the concept of water chemistry and introduced the students to the quick calculation process for ion balance for industrial applications. The second part of the session provided an idea about the various types of resins used by Ion Exchange India for the water purification process, especially parenting to the De-Ionized Water Production for the Thermal Power Plant application. The students took a deep interest in the subject and interacted with the industrial resource person. The session ended with a positive note on taking forward the collaboration in the coming time, and the speaker also showed an interest for giving a lecture in person at the Department of ESE.
