State-owned iron ore mining major NMDC is all set to host the ‘International Conference on Minerals and Metals – Outlook 2030’ in New Delhi on October 9-10. The conference is supported by the Ministry of Steel, Ministry of Mines, and Ministry of External Affairs, and is being organised by NMDC in association with FICCI and Metalogic.
Chaudhary Birender Singh, Minister of Steel, would be the Chief Guest and Binoy Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, will preside over the inaugural session. Edwin Basson, Director-General, World Steel Association, will address the event.
N Baijendra Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, NMDC, said the international conference would not only focus on various aspects of the minerals and metals sector, but would help re-dedicate all the stakeholders in achieving targets set by the National Steel Policy 2030.
India produces 95 minerals, including fuel and atomic, metallic, non-metallic and minor minerals. The country's mining sector offers opportunity for investors to mine unexplored regions. In a world governed by increasing volatility, those trading in minerals and metals require clarity on prices, news and forecasts they receive.
The programme will include a Global CEO Session that will deliberate on the future of minerals and metals worldwide. The event aims to achieve an understanding of the global commodities market for minerals and metals, highlighting the linkage between mineral development and economic growth, developments in the international metals market that can impact the Indian metals industry and identify opportunities in Indian mining and metals.
The conference will host over 500 delegates from 16 countries. It plans to offer an effective platform to existing and potential metals producers and miners, both domestic and international, for discussing, planning, and establishing mutually beneficial relationships.
